Nanoray 800 Badminton Racket Review

Launched in 2011, the Nanoray series was created as a descendant of the very popular Nanospeed range. A tall task, considering the immense popularity of popular Nanospeed rackets such as the Nanospeed 7000 and the 9900.

Combining aerodynamics and strength, the Nanoray became known for its advanced play and incredibly fast racket swings. The Nanoray 800 badminton racket, introduced in 2012, has withstood the test of time, continuing to excel along with the Nanoray 900,  the racket of choice of the Indonesian pair of Setiawan and Ahsan.

The Nanoray 800 badminton racket has been a worthy successor to the Nanospeed 9900. With a combination of black, gray, yellow, red, and fuschia, the Nanoray 800 is aesthetically appealing and quite striking. A few swings through the air confirms our expectation of this racket - a lightweight frame, yet solid enough for powerful strikes and counterattacks. To create increased stiffness and repulsion power, Yonex uses X-Fullerene technology, allowing the athlete to hit deep into the opponent's court, with a compact swing during high-speed rallies. The Isometric head shape, found in the Nanoray 800,  expands the string bed's sweet spot and feels forgiving for off-center shots.

In the US, the racket is available in two weights, 3U G4, and 4U G4, and can hold up to a recommended 25-26 lbs. We recommend Nanogy 95 badminton string with this racket. The Nanoray 800 is great for the competitive badminton player, because of its stiff shaft and headlight frame. A beginner or intermediate player, on the other hand, might be better suited with the Nanoray 10F or Nanoray 20- both excellent badminton rackets with the headlight characteristics of the Nanoray series but without the stiff shaft of the Nanoray 800.
